What Procurement Should Demand from an Industrial Supplier
Authorised brands, paperwork and a supplier who will still be there in month six. A practical checklist for Tanzanian project buyers.
Director Deepak M. Kara has described the old problem in this market plainly: a lot of hardware was imported cheaply and sold with no guarantee it would perform. Kara Traders chose not to be that business. The catalog is built from manufacturers and their authorised distributors — King Tony, Mitutoyo, Fluke, Telwin, Pedrollo, Mega, Irwin and Licota among them.
Put this in the RFQ
- Name the brand and the duty, not only a generic description such as "spanner" or "pump".
- Ask whether the seller is an authorised stockist for that brand in Tanzania.
- Require calibration, test or manufacturer documents where the specification calls for them.
- Include spares and consumables in the first order so the crew is not idle in week three.
- State the site, the region and how long the job runs, so stock can be planned.
A price that is far below authorised stock is usually a different product. We would rather decline a line than relabel it. Quotes from the catalog are answered within one business day.
