King Tony in Tanzania, and Why Kara Power Tools Was Formed
Exclusive King Tony distribution, and the 2007 decision to put professional power tools in a dedicated company, still shape how sites specify tools.
Workshops in Tanzania used to choose between cheap copies and whatever arrived in a mixed container. Kara Traders answered that by taking exclusive distribution, not by adding another unmarked brand to the shelf.
Kara Power Tools Ltd, 2007
Kara Power Tools Ltd was established under Pratish M. Kara as exclusive distributor of Hitachi power tools in Tanzania. The point was a local partner who understood duty cycles, spares and after-sales. That specialist approach still guides how we stock professional electric tools, including Mega from Spain.
King Tony for the hand-tool crib
In the 2010s Kara Traders became exclusive King Tony distributor for Tanzania. Socket sets, ratchets, wrenches and workshop tools from that Taiwanese line are what we specify when a mechanic or plant fitter needs tools that stay in the crib for years, not a season. The catalog groups sizes onto one card so a buyer can pick 10 mm or 19 mm without losing the family.
- Specify sockets and wrenches by brand, not by the lowest generic description.
- Pair hand tools with Mitutoyo instruments where fit is inspected.
- Ask for genuine stock. A parallel import rarely has a service path in Dar es Salaam.
A new workshop or a multi-year tools package can be sent as a bill of materials. We map it to King Tony, Mega and the related lines we hold.
